Kentucky - Illinois Route

By popular demand, we are posting a map of the section of the Transam that we are currently biking. I'm sure this is a flagrant violation of copyright law, but, hey, we're willing to take risks for our friends. Readers that have been paying attention (ahem) will know that we posted a map of the entire route in an earlier post.

  1. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT --wifi on the remote island of Thetis. I want to tell you that your blog is the only thing I am going to indulge in besides making a ferry reservation which started this whole damn thing. Thetis is the ultimate escape. Peaceful, blah, blah, blah. And look at me - checking your blog and there is nothing new!

Well the Buddha is alive an dwell although not green and small here.

And the weather looks like it will be workable. But I forgot the coolness of the evenings close to the water and didn't quite pack right - so I'm going to bed early and staying warm.

I saw some bikes with gear today on my way up to the big B.C. ferry and on Vancouver Island and thought mightily of you two.

The tide is coming in and the water is licking at my feet. Have to go to bed now.

I spent some time today thinking about rendezvousing. I sure hope that works. I'm going to look for the smalles panniers that I can. One shirt, a sleeping bag (or credit card) and a pad. My right leg is still smaller so I have to go light.

  2. Hey! You get back to Berea and make up those 40 miles! No short cuts on this trip, or the deal's off...(remember, I'd buy the coffee for the cafe for life if you made it, you'd buy it if you didn't).
Just back from South Dakota and looked for you on the roads there...when do you get to South Dakota?
Rascal had a great time at the reunion.
By the way, since when are you averse to drinking Bourbon in the morning? Let's make this blog real...
Wedding coming up this week and we'll miss you. There will be lots of reunion and wedding stories when you get home.
Keep chuggin'. We're waitin' for you, faithfully...

  3. Kind of funny that I have to read your blog to find out what is happening to my wife and neighbor! They both seem to be doing well. Oh well, I am sure its fascinating to everybody else! Its Monday morning, and I am grumpy! Thanks for the map, and I will not take the "ahem" personally. Also, that watermelon looks delicious. Take care, love, aw

  4. I'm going to close the circle of the neighborhood comments just so you can sense how close I am to Nirbana up here in my little meditating cabiny world. I spent the morning considering the judgmental mind (which as a result I am not employing at the moment) while scampering over these beautiful rocks along the shoreline. The water (which I'm sure you are dreaming about) is crystal clear with crushed oyster shells at the bottom. Almost thinking I'll go in today IF the sun stays out. There is a cool breeze which I bet you wish you had blowing through those holes in your helmet right now!

I'm mentally conditioning my legs in preparation for the possible rendez-vous. I have to be in portland Aug. 11/13 and in Tieton near Yakima for Vic and MA's daughter Ayva's wedding party I believe the last Saturday in August. Hope this works with your schedule assuming that you are that far because I know you dumped out all your gear and loaded up with bourbon to fuel the trip through after you leave Kentucky and hit the Ozarks.

Hope you are well fed and rested. Miss you.
    Love, Carolini
